Rabbi Naftoly Bier
Rabbi Bier founded the Kollel of Greater Boston in 1989. Originally from Elizabeth, New Jersey, Rabbi Bier graduated from the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia and received his Rabbinical Ordination from Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey. He, together with his wife, Rebbetzin Yehudis, originally from Monsey, New York, are involved in many aspects of the Boston community. Their home is open to anyone who needs to talk, revitalize, or a good meal. Rabbi Bier’s classes for men and women in tens of locations throughout Massachusetts are inspiring and thought-provoking. Rebbetzin Bier is a celebrated educator in the Aleph Bet Childcare center in Cambridge MA. Together they have touched hundreds of lives over their last twenty plus years in Boston.
Rabbi Zalman Leff
Rabbi Zalman Leff joined Rabbi Bier at the helm of the Kollel in 2001. Rabbi Leff, originally from Chicago, Illinois, graduated from the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia and received his Rabbinical Ordination from Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore. Rabbi Leff and his wife, Rebbetizn Gitty, originally from Baltimore, have become key players in the building of our community. Their home is open to anyone looking to get to know our beautiful community better. Rabbi Leff is famous for his advanced Talmud classes, which he delivers at the Kollel as well as at the Young Israel of Brookline. Rebbetzin Leff is the extracurricular activities coordinator at the Bais Yaakov High School, directs the Shabbos afternoon Bnos program for girls, and is involved in organizing many communal events.
Rabbi Shloimy Halpern
Rabbi Halpern joined our Kollel from Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Yeshiva Torah Temima, continued on to Yeshivas Brisk and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood. After a few years in the Kollel, Rabbi Halpern assumed the position of Program and Outreach Director, where he focuses on creating dynamic programs for men, women, and children. Rabbi Halpern’s most notable accomplishment is the expansion of the Kollel’s youth programs. He initiated the Father-Son as well as the Mother-Daughter learning programs in Newton and Brighton. Hundreds of parents participate in these weekly programs with their children.Rabbi Halpern’s nightly classes at various locations in and around the Greater Boston area are very well-attended. His wife Devory from Monsey, New York, graduated Gateshead Teachers Seminary and is a teacher at Bais Yaakov High School for Girls. Mrs. Halpern is involved in many communal activities.
Rabbi Yaakov Berzansky
Rabbi Berzansky, originally from South Fallsbugh NY, learned at Yeshiva Gedolah of South Fallsbugh, Toronto's Zichron Shmaryahu and Beth Medrash Govoha. His engaging personality and scholarship adds much to The Kollel. Rabbi Berzansky Co-Directs The Father Son learning program in Newton. His wife Bracha,originally from Toronto teaches at Bais Yaakov High School.
Rabbi Meir Bier
Rabbi Bier, a Boston native, after graduating from the Mesivta of Greater Boston, he continued his studies at the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia, Brisk, and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood NJ. Rabbi Bier co-directs the Kollel’s Brookline Father-Son program. His dedication to our community has brought new enthusiasm to our Kollel. His wife Elisheva, from Brooklyn, New York, is a certified Speech Therapist (S.L.P.-C.C.C.) and works for Genesis Healthcare. She currently leads The Mother-Daughter program at The Kollel Center.
Rabbi Nochum Murik
Rabbi Murik was born and raised in Lakewood NJ. He studied at The Philadelphia and Springfield Yeshivos and Continued his studies at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood NJ before joining The Boston Kollel. His sincerity and warm personality has gained respect of his peers and the community. His Wife Aviva originally from Brooklyn NY has a degree in Special Education and currently serves as The Reading Specialist at Torah Academy.
Rabbi Yechezkel Nulman
Rabbi Nulman originates from Philadelphia. He graduated from Yeshivos Philadelphia, Brisk and BMG. His broad knowledge of all areas of Torah and especially Halacha has earned him a reputation of respect and admiration. His wife Chaya hails from Detroit and is currently employed at Bais Yaakov High School.
Rabbi Shia Plotnik
Rabbi Plotnik comes to Boston from Chicago. He graduated from The Philadelphia, Brisk and Lakewood Yeshiva. He currently delivers a Daf Yomi Shiur at Bais Pinchus. In his quiet, self-effacing manner he has enriched the lives of many in our community. His wife Miriam, originally from Monsey NY works as an Actuary at John Hancock and Co Hosts The Mother Daughter Program at The Kollel Center.
Rabbi Shimon Sternfield
Who originates from Monsey NY and studied at The Philadelphia Yeshiva, Brisk and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood NJ. He is a jovial, warm, and kind Talmud Chacham. His wife Shirah comes from Silver Spring MD and is a certified speech therapist. She is currently teaching at Torah Academy.

Rabbi Yaakov Bier, who earned his reputation in Lakewood, NJ as a reliable, enthusiastic and dedicated person to the needs of the Klal joined The Kollel in order to help the administration, especially to procure affordable housing. In his short time here he has endeared himself to many individuals, by taking time and expanding effort to learn with them and organizing new learning programs. His wife Adel originally from Brooklyn works as a bookkeeper.
